Farmer for a day at the Elizabethtown Fair

Our farming unit ended with several trips to the Elizabethtown Fair; where we particularly loved the Farmer for a Day program: Squid got to pick an apple, fetch an egg (from under stuffed chickens) and dig a potato (in the sand box). 

 

He also got to try milking a (pretend) cow and goat and had a blast playing in the feed corn.

He petted sheep, goats and rabbits in the petting zoo (and did not wake up the sleeping calf).

And then, of course, the best thing of all: He got to pretend to drive a tractor.

Birdwatching!

 We went for a walk around the neighborhood and looked for birds!

We found neat stuff!

Toddler Hike in Mount Gretna!

We went on a hike to look for "Signs of Fall".

And we used leaves we found to make leaf prints!

We used paint on some and a brayer with stamp ink on others.

We got a new kickbike (and helmet) this week.

First, Squid helped Daddy put it together.

Then, Daddy helped Squid practice riding.

We went on a toddler hike at Governor Dick park and found a boulder tunnel to play in!

 HI!  We went to the Library's Touch A Truck program today and saw the fire engine!

My Little Mulchslinger

We got a big delivery of mulch for the garden this week.  Squid helped move it around!

Sand tent

It's Squid's favorite place now.  A two man tent with sand -stays clean when not in use and is big enough to play in!

First Visit to Hershey Park

We have season passes to Hershey Park this year - it was cheaper than a pool membership, and gets us into the zoo all year as well as the park when it's open.

Today, we took advantage of the Springtime in the Park hours and went on a short adventure.

We saw lots of things!

Like, creepy chocolate bars.  Squid waved. but wouldn't get too close.

We rode the monorail, the railroad and the carousel.

Chick Days!

It's easter time and that means baby chickens and egg hunts!

We egg hunted with the MOMS club at a member's house:

and also at the Brandt's Farm supply, where we also petted baby chickens.

 They went "peep".
