Catherine the Grey was not impressed when we brought a baby home.  She has remained generally unimpressed and usually gives Squid a wide berth.
Today, she deigned to let him touch her for a bit.
She has a bell on her collar which the Squid found fascinating.

Holiday Toys: Interlocking blocks

Great Grandma brought the BIG bag of MegaBlocks.  They're fun to take out of the bag and to take apart when someone puts them together.

Holiday Toys: Crafting

Grandma gave me things to play with at our crafting days!  Lacing woodland blocks and a sewing toy!

First Holiday: Stocking

It took a while to get the idea that the stocking had stuff in, but we got there!
This year, our stocking contained a spritz cookie and an orange, two books, a sewing block, a couple of wooden rolling animals and some wrapping paper for fun.

Feature Friday: cooking

We have a kitchen set that will be coming out soon, but today we just have some food tools found at a recent thrift store trip.  A wooden spoon, cups and plates, a measuring cup and a very interestingly textured veggie scrubber!

Squid likes books.  We read to him, he reads to us, sometimes he just sits on his own and turns pages!

Feature Friday: Tea time

We're having a tea party this weekend, so we needed to get prepared!
We've got a tea cup and a pot holder and a cookie cutter and a lunch bag and a bunch of good holiday books!

Cardboard Box!

Today, it's definitely a car.  Grandma is helping drive.

Gah the Raccoon!

My inlaws “adopted” a raccoon at their local zoo in Squid’s name. The paperwork came with a stuffed raccoon. Apparently it’s name is now “Gah”. So Says Squid.

The zoo’s raccoon is actually named Titan.

Feature Friday: Fabric!

Today, we have a discovery basket full of different cloths and fabrics!  There are towels and crocheted squares and felt and tulle... all kinds of fun!  We've also got cloth books to read!

At the Library

Today, we stopped by the Duke Street Library in Lancaster PA to check out their children's room!

Feature Friday: Pooh Bear

We've got a big stuffed Winnie the Pooh, a little rubber Pooh bear, a wooden bear, a honey bear with cheerios that makes a nice shaker, a crochet basket, a yellow flower, books and a yellow water bottle.

Food containers!

In the US, today is Thanksgiving.  But Squid's daddy has to work, so we're having our Turkey on Sunday.
So, rather than playing with food today, Squid's going to play with kitchen containers!

We've got some tupperware and a cup, a spoon and a toothbrush, a toy apple and wood pineapple shape, a plastic egg and a cardboard tube; all covered by a kitchen towel!  And, of course, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" book.

Theme Friday: Circles!

Today, we have a cheerios book, a bracelet, a couple of baby ring toys, a round puzzle piece, a jingly ball (courtesy of Cat), a round bean bag, a mini basket, a cardboard tube and our stacking cups!

Color Friday: Blue!

We've got a blue water/oil bottle, a ribbon laced through a blanket square; an easter egg, a ball and a bean bag, a crocheted bag with a (clean) toothbrush in it, one of Daddy's old ids and a bunch of books! Squid was very interested in "The Napping House" today.

New toys!

We have a quiet book about a teddy getting ready for bed, a stuffed dragon, a shaker egg, the halloween eye spy bottle, an eye spy alphabet book, a squeaky ball and a toy car today!

Also, today was the final day of our Books and Babies storytime at the library - we had lots of fun playing with the other babies and listening to stories and rhymes.

Color Friday: Red

Lots of red things in our basket today!  A red (empty) tea box, a red bag with peppermint scent in it, red crocheted and knitted apples, the red water/oil bottle, a red toy truck, red shakers, a red ribbon, a red rubber bracelet, a pink blanket square and books featuring reds!

The tea box has been particularly enticing.

A knit dolly, a wood massager, a rubbery chew toy, a toy car, a gourd, a plastic key ring, a wood alligator cutout, a defunct gift card and a collection of books.

Creature Feature!

Today we've got a Squirt turtle activity toy, Sophie the Giraffe, a weeble, a toothbrush, our honey bear with cheerios shaker, a length of cat print fleece and a variety of critter books, including Squid's favorite Sandra Boynton "Doggies".

Leaf baby!

Today, the weather is lovely so we're playing with leaves and cruising on the deck.

Themed Fridays: HALLOWEEN!

We've got an orange and black themed basket for this weekend!

Our giraffe (a gift from Pampers Rewards) is peering at: a jack-o-little pumpkin, a fisher price dump truck, a wooden pirate ship, a witch hat, a crocheted pumpkin bean bag, an orange tambourine, an orange star and a seek-and-find bottle filled with orange and black items!  We also have several halloween books, including Bats at the Beach.

Yellow!

Our yellow themed basket features a silk flower, a puzzle piece, a yellow pencil washcloth, a crocheted basket, a yellow pumpkin, a bean bag, a tiny board book, a yellow truck and a yellow sensory bottle,with a yellow and black print bandanna to cover it all up!

We played with Yellow mid week because tomorrow we're going to have a special Holiday themed basket!

Bracelets

Earlier this week, we visited the local gardens to view their carved pumpkins.  On the way home, Squid was very interested in the paper bracelet that identified us as members; so we had a bracelet comparison.

Color Friday: Green

We're trying out themed baskets on Fridays, and this week is green things in celebration of all the green tomatoes that came in from our garden.

We have one of those lovely green tomatoes, a green oil/water bottle (sealed!), an alligator wood shape, several knitted green toys, a green wooden puzzle piece, a tambourine and an easter egg shaker (cheerios again!) along with a green bandanna and a green blanket square and a green ribbon.  We're reading Sandra Boynton's "But not the Hippopotamus" (green cover) and Eric Carle's "The very hungry caterpillar".

Today we have a basket on the back deck with a rock, a flower (mum), a leaf of kale, a sprig of mint and a stem of basil.

New discovery basket!

An elephant blankie buddy, a tiny board book, cotton balls with vanilla on them in an organza bag, the cheerios rattle, a squeaky ball, a wooden alligator and a toothbrush.

Library craft day

Today was our once a month tatting day at the library so we added some new craft items to our box: a strip of oilcloth fabric, some buttons on a ribbon, an organza bag of polyester stuffing and an (empty) michaels gift card.  The gift card was a big hit.
It was also book sale week so we have some new board books!  (A lot of new board books.  Many more than the two shown here.)

Fresh discovery basket

A seashell, a styrofoam ball, a wooden massager (I think.  It was a find at a local thrift store), an organza bag with cinnamon sticks in it (they're rather old and don't have as much smell as I'd like), a folding leather coin purse, the cheerios shaker, a knitted ball and a bell trapped in a wooden cage.
